Dr. Steven Sage Hider Originally from Merced, California, Dr. Steven Sage Hider obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from UC Irvine. He then pursued his Doctorate of Optometry at UC Berkeley, completing internships at the Western Blind Rehabilitation Center in Palo Alto, the Oakland VA Hospital, and the Atlanta Eye Surgery Center in Georgia. He Joined Primary Eyecare Center in 1994 emphasizing family vision care, contact lenses and disease management. In 2009, Dr. Hider received the “Top 20 Under 40” award for community and professional leadership in San Luis Obispo County. He is a past president of the Atascadero Kiwanis and a member of Rotary Club of San Luis Obispo. He is also active in professional organizations being a past president and the current treasurer of the Tri-County Optometric Society. Dr. Quyen T. Immoos Dr. Quyen Immoos grew up in Southern California and joined the practice in 2004. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Biochemistry from Occidental College, then attended UC Berkeley where she obtained her Optometry Doctorate in 2002. Her clinical studies included internships at the Livermore VA Hospital, Seymore Johnson Air Force Base in North Carolina, and the Sequoia Eye Surgery Center in Tulare. After residing in North Carolina for several years, Dr. Immoos and her husband, a Professor of Chemistry at Cal Poly, were excited to return to California. Due to her interest in the local community, Dr. Immoos is a member of Quota International of San Luis Obispo, Rotary International of Atascadero, and the Cal Poly Women’s Club. Dr. Lauren R. Tobin Dr. Lauren Tobin was born and raised in San Francisco, California. She obtained her undergraduate degree in Biology from UC Davis. An alumnus of UC Berkeley School of Optometry, her clinical training included internships at the Portland VA Hospital, Kaiser Permanente of Sacramento, and Vandenberg Air Force Base. She moved to the Central Coast and joined the practice in 2008 after completing a one-year optometric residency program at the San Francisco VA Hospital. During her residency, she honed her skills in ocular disease and low vision rehabilitation and now provides comprehensive low vision care within the practice. Dr. Tobin is active in the Tri-County Optometric Society, serving on the board and is also a member of the Rotary Club of San Luis Obispo de Tolosa. For fun she enjoys Swing and Salsa dancing. Dr. Elaine L. Cormier (Retired) Dr. Elaine Cormier joined the practice in 1988 upon graduating from the Southern California College of Optometry. She is also a 1981 graduate of Cuesta College with a degree in Registered Nursing. Her education at Cuesta College provided the foundation for careers in both nursing and optometry. She has served as president of the Tri-County Optometric Society, chaired the Cuesta College Alumnae Legacy Project and received the 2008 Cuesta College Alumna of the Year award. Dr. Cormier retired at the end of 2009. For leisure she enjoys yoga, kayaking, book club and beach walking with her husband Richard. Dr. Robert Y. Cheung (Retired) Dr. Robert Cheung began his optometry practice in San Luis Obispo upon graduating from the Southern California College of Optometry. His practice grew as he opened a second office in Atascadero, and in subsequent years, brought in a second and third partner. Dr. Cheung played key roles in professional and community organizations, while raising three children with his wife Klara. He was a teacher to his employees and a doctor dedicated to providing up-to-date care to his patients. Dr. Cheung and Klara now enjoy retirement and spending more time with their growing family.
